OKicon, up until Comicpalooza 2022, had taken the throne for my best convention in my entire career as a convention artist. This was the second Fandom Events show I had done, and the second amazing experience I've had with their shows. I'll have many reviews where I'll wax poetic about their shows, but every show I've done with them has been amazing and I felt very welcomed by the staff and attendees.
I have... literally nothing bad to say about this con. Except, I wish it had been more than 3 days because of how much fun I had there. This is something that I have a hard time saying in regards to conventions as a vendor. Selling at cons is fun to me, yes. I love sharing my wares with people and traveling, but actually partaking in the convention festivities is mostly impossible for me to do. By the end of the exhibit day, I'm too tired to even entertain doing anything other than collapsing in my hotel room, ordering UberEats and sleeping. But, the hotel that hosted the event had a happy hour with free drinks and even had anime themed drinks to buy. It's not often I stay in the same hotel as a convention, mostly because they tend to be pricy, but this was one I didn't mind staying at because I got to actually enjoy the convention. There was a neat NYE party with music, dancing, and drinks.
Okay, so none of that had anything to do with my selling experience, but overall made my convention experience amazing. As far as sales are concerned, this was the debut of my plush pillows, and I wasn't expecting them to fly off the table... but boy did they. This definitely contributed to my sales, but also told me that people were willing to make big purchases like this instead of settling for $5-10 purchases. This might have been because it was after the holiday season and people were itching to spend their Christmas money, but regardless of the reason, I made $2700 and was very happy with my experience. I look forward to more shows from Fandom Events.
